Welcome again,
So as promised, this is the second post to give you some glimpse of one the most exciting new feature of upcoming version 5.0 of the web client, the View Editor. Which lets you change the view of any resource easily.
Let's see the view designer in action...
You can see, how easy it is to customize objects and their views. The changes made with the view editor will be saved for all users.
Additionally, in this upcoming major release, you will see some RAD tools included with the web client like Object Designer and Workflow Designer. With these tools, you can customize the OpenERP without writing a single line of code (more on this later)...ter

At Thymbra we are proud to announce the development of an Electronic Medical Record - EMR - for OpenERP.
"medical" combines the versatility of OpenERP with the power of EMR.
Electronic Medical Record is a paperless way of keeping track of all the patients encounters / visits to the doctor. This way, any doctor can have the latest information about a patient, including Rx, allergies, current medications, surgeries, etc...
The medical module will include a Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR - Vademecum), which will allow the doctor to prescribe a specific medication to the client from a current approved list.
Lastly, the medical module can also be used at hospitals and clinics. It will be able to invoice, make room reservations, inventory control, etc...
If you are interested, please send us an email to medical@thymbra.com

We are celebrating the first anniversary of the Thymbra OpenERP Academy in Latin America.
During this year, in Thymbra we have had people from all over Latin America. From Argentina and Uruguay to Spain, Ecuador and Venezuela.
The number of students is growing exponentially, proportionally to the interest and involvement of the Latin America community in OpenERP.
Since we started our partnership with Tiny in 2005, the number implementations and students just keeps growing.
This proves our slogan
"Three decades of [r]evolution : GNU (1980s ) -> Linux (1990s) -> OpenERP (2000)"
The OpenERP academy in Latin America is the only one who has the certification from Belgium Tiny SPRL in Spain and Latin America.
Last but not least, thank you very much to all of you who have trusted us in the implementations and in the academy. Retailers, service companies, universities, manufacturers.... This is just the beginning ....
Thymbra is committed to bring the best in localization, implementation and educational services to all the companies, in Spain and Latin America.
Regards, Luis Falcón

Last week, we went to the meeting Solutions ERP in Paris (CNIT, La Defense). It's the biggest meeting related to enterprise management software in France. It was a very big success, where we got about 200 customers requests in three days. It was quite funny because the Open ERP booth was just near the SAP and the Cegid one. The following photo explains well the situation: during these three days, SAP salesman saw the back of the visitors, while they were looking at Open ERP :) Open ERP on the left - SAP on the right.I thanks our partners that were present with us: Network Assistance, Axelor, Smile and Syleam. You can get more photos here. PS: We are working on a SorrySAP.com campaign, any suggestion is welcome. Send them to me by email.

GLUD is an acronym for "Grupo Linux de la Universidad Distrital". It's a free software user group in the Distrital University of Bogotá (Colombia). They celebrate a geek-week event called SLUD where conferences and workshops follow one another making any geek's delight with different topics around free software. I was invited to give a talk and a workshop on OpenERP, so I accepted the invitation and flew to Colombia. At the same time I was also invited to talk to the students of the Valle University in Cali on the same topic. I had a wonderful time in Colombia totalling nearly 8 hours of talks about OpenERP. I found a vibrant community and many interested people trying to find an alternative to the dominant solution in the colombian market: SAP Business One. I talked with many people about OpenERP and localization and I tried to show them that the first thing that has to be done is a proper colombian localization, and that this must be a community project. I really hope that the effort gets done and that in a few months we will have good improvements on the platform coming directly from the country of Juan Valdez ;) Many thanks, Colombia and many thanks, GLUD *************************************************** GLUD son las siglas de Grupo Linux de la Universidad Distrital de Bogotá.

So... Tiny sprl asked all the contributors to their planet to post in english. This means that I will have to do double work: I will post in english and an spanish translation of the blog entries. This blog is devoted to using OpenERP in spanish or spanish speaking countries so it would create some frustration if the language were changed. So, from now on, entries on both languages. (By the way... the same day that I was politely requested to post in english, Fabien posted in french... ;) ) Next post coming in a few minutes ;) *********************************** Bueno...

New field type is added in trunk. Example: In tree view of partner you can see country and city of first partner's address. Following fields are added in partner object. 'city':fields.related('address', 'city', type='char',string='City'), 'country':fields.related('address','country_id',type='many2one',relation='res.country',string='Country'),
Where address is the one2many field on partner object.

E-commerce is developed for any product based company which are selling the products online. We can integrate this site with any websites. Thus we can control multiple websites and shops from one administration panel.
E-commerce module support integration between Tinyerp Server and the E-commerce(Website). - ecommerce/Configuration/Webshop : You can create webshop here, where you can create product's category which has a link with tiny category. We can add currency and language for the ecommerce website, plus shipping method available for the customer.
- ecommerce/Configuration/Payment Configuration : This object specifies address for direct payment by cheque or by paypal. Here in paypal option you can add paypal account, return url and cancel url.
- ecommerce/partners/partner : This partner is for ecommerce customers/users. (Note:when user register on the website it will create partner here)
- ecommerce/sale order : Entries will be created over here (like different type of address(default, shipping, contact, invoice), sale order) when the customer clicks on "delivery" of the products on the website.
We add some features in E-commerce like,
1. Drag and Drop product in to the cart.
U can drag the product image and drop in to the shopping cart. Thus, it becomes easy for the customer to select the products and add in to the cart. Apart from dragging the products, you can directly add it to the cart by clicking on the cart image".
(Drag by Product Image)
2. See details of the products like Large image, product description.
3. Easily Edit the cart.
4. Select Delivery Carrier.
Customer can add different address for Shipping. Customer can select the apropriate carrier through which the products can be delivered .
Flexible tax rate calculation is done in saleorder.
When customer confirms order that time it will create Tiny sale order as well as Tiny partner.
5. After Payment send invoice by email.
After the payment is being made, the customer would receive the invoice by email.

Koo, the KDE OpenObject client has supported Full Text Search for quite some time now. Sadly, it's had very little exposure and not many people know about it. So let me introduce it. Once installed, the Full Text Search module has to be configured with the fields you want to be indexed in Administration -> Configuration -> Full Text Search -> Indexes. Once you've added all the fields you want to be indexed just execute "Update Full Text Index" in the same menu, and that's it. This will have indexed all existing data and new information introduced will be indexed automatically by a set of triggers created by the module on the database. This means you can even insert records directly to PostgreSQL without fear of making text indexes inconsistent. Now you can click on the 'Full Text Search' button in Koo to search for any words in any of the indexed fields in any model of the application, including attachments. Double click an item and it will be opened in a new tab. Take a look at these screenshots and screencast. Using this together with the smart_attach module you can also search inside attached documents information, including images that will be automatically processed with an OCR. All this, combined with Koo's System Tray functionality, provides a very powerful and easy way for accessing all the information of OpenERP. The 'full_text_search' server module is included in Koo's bazaar repository so you'll just get it when you download the whole client. You'll also find the 'fts-indexes' module that contains a set of standard preconfigured indexes. Update: You'll need to configure PostgreSQL in order to be able to use this module. Please take a look at the docs for more info.

Hello Everyone, It has been long since I have talked on any new features of the OpenERP Web Client (formerly eTiny). We are working hard to make the OpenERP one of the most advanced OpenSource ERP ever made, and as a result we are going to publish the next major version 5.0 of the OpenERP loaded with tones of new features within next two months. As you all know, various components of OpenERP is now hosted on the OpenSource development portal Launchpad.net as OpenObject framework to work closer with the community and partners. Being an active member of the OpenERP community, some of you might have ideas on what's going on with the OpenERP. I will publish few blogs on new features to keep you informed. So this one is the first of them. Today, I will tell you about how to test the bleeding-edge version of OpenERP (the trunk version). Here are few quick steps (Ubuntu Linux). Please go through the forum and the wiki for detailed help: $ sudo apt-get install postgresql $ sudo apt-get install python-xml $ sudo apt-get install python-lxml $ sudo apt-get install python-libxml2 $ sudo apt-get install python-libxslt1 $ sudo apt-get install python-psycopg $ sudo apt-get install python-imaging $ sudo apt-get install python-pyparsing $ sudo apt-get install python-reportlab $ sudo apt-get install python-matplotlib $ sudo apt-get install python-pyopenssl $ sudo apt-get install python-tz $ sudo apt-get install graphviz $ sudo apt-get install gs-gpl
$ sudo apt-get install python-gtk2 $ sudo apt-get install python-glade2 $ sudo apt-get install python-egenix-mxdatetime
$ mkdir openerp-trunk $ cd openerp-trunk $ bzr branch lp:openobject-server server $ bzr branch lp:openobject-addons addons $ bzr branch lp:openobject-client client $ bzr branch lp:openobject-client-web web
The web client requires TurboGears 1.0.3.2 or later, if your distribution provides packages for this version you can install TG with apt-get, but we recommend to use the latest stable version of TurboGears 1.0.x series. See http://docs.turbogears.org/1.0/InstallNix for more information. $ wget http://www.turbogears.org/download/tgsetup.py $ python tgsetup.py
Check whether TurboGears is installed properly or not: $ tg-admin info
It will show you information about various components of TurboGears and it's dependencies. Now start the OpenERP server: $ cd openerp-trunk/server/bin $ ./openerp-server.py --addons-path=../../addons
You will see a message saying `INFO:web-services:the server is running, waiting for connections...` Now start the OpenERP web client: $ cd openerp-trunk/web $ ./start-openerp-web.py
You will see a message saying `INFO HTTP: Serving HTTP on http://0.0.0.0:8080/` That's it!!! You are ready to test the bleeding-edge version of OpenERP Server and the Web Client. As part of the community, we welcome inputs from you by means of bug reports, suggestions and translations to improve the OpenObject projects. Go though the Launchpad project site for more information...

At Thymbra R+D Labs - Torre de Hanoi - we have developed the Electronic Invoicing module. Even though is has been localised to Argentina, most of the concepts are valid for other countries.
Electronic Invoicing allows us to generate documents (different types of invoices, Credit or Debit notes .. ) without the need of printing them. We save space, time, money and we collaborate with mother nature.
With the OpenERP Electronic Invoicing module we can generate invoice batches automatically. The generated document is processed by the fiscal administration (AFIP in Argentina), which will emit an authorization code (CAE) for each invoice.
Once we have the CAE, we can send a copy (pdf or xml) by mail to the client, or he / she can check it / download it online.
The main steps are :
Invoice generation in OpenERP -> XML / webservice -> CAE -> mail to client
The module be part be part of OpenERP 5.0
Please write to us at openerp@thymbra.com if you have any question about this module.

No, this blog hasn't been hacked! The title means "translation" in Russian. You guess it, I'll talk about the internationalization (abbreviated to i18n) of OpenERP. Contrary to the 4.2.x version, the translations are now done by module. So, instead of an unique i18n folder for the whole application, each module has its own i18n folder. In addition, OpenERP can now deal with .po files as import/export format. The translation files of the installed languages are automatically loaded when installing or updating a module. OpenERP can also generate a .tgz archive containing well organised .po files for each selected module. The reason why we did these changes is that we now use our launchpad project for manage the translations. Even if there are still some files awaiting to be reviewed by the launchpad team, you can start translate. The ball is in your court now: translate !

Hello to All !!! After a long time i am going to write a blog on the Open ERP Planet, Thanks to Fabien to assign me a such good development work in to the OpenERP core System. This is a new feature for the OpenERP Server 5, which provides many things with few configuration, with out writing any code, for example we would like to have an Partner Event after creating their invoice, which is not there in to the Server, but the same things you can get for the Sales Order or CRM case. without Server Action we have to create new module then override the method which confirm the invoice and in that we write a code to create thePartner Event. with the server action we just have to configure the work flow with server action such that it create the automatic record in to the partner event list. Another frequent requirenments is to send Email and sms based on the business process, like when any Sales order confirm we would like to send the confirmation email or sms with the customized text message, then now using the server action just we have to configure the server action and we get the result with out writing any more code. Here are he list of action which supported by the Open ERP new feature called Server Action. - Python Code
- Email
- SMS
- Create Object
- Write Object
- Trigger
- Other Actions
for the complete detils like configuration, get the detailed document. Mantavya Gajjar mga@tinyerp.comhttp://www.tinyerpindia.com

In our process to simplify and improve OpenERP for the next version, we reviewed most screens and features. As an example, here is an explanation of the changes applied in the project management module. First, we changed the way you estimate time on tasks. You don't anymore estimate the "% of completion" of the task but the "remaining time", which is much more easy to do. You start a task in draft by filling in the Planned Time. Once the task is open, you can not anymore change this time. The "Remaining Time" is automatically set to the planned time at the beginning and decrease when you encode your work on the task. Different factors are automatically computed based on these values: total time, delay, progressbar, time spent. The above screenshot is in "Simplified View", if you use the expert mode, you will have more features and tabs on the task. In the list view, we changed the colors assignation: - red: the task deadline is over-passed
- blue: you have to re-evaluate your remaining time as you worked more than the expected value
- grey: the task is closed/canceled
We also added a calendar view to the GTK client like in eTiny, so that you can browse your tasks directly in a calendar view. (still in prototype) And, to better organise priorities, we implemented drag & drop of tasks to change their priorities/sequences. A system of delegation of tasks and dependencies between tasks has also been added for a better control of the delegation chain. The unit of measure is now fully configurable per company so that you can work in hours/days or weeks. Screens change automatically based on the configuration you put in the company. Of course, your project management module remains fully integrated with the others components of the ERP: - Complete integration with timesheets and analytic accounting for financial and cost control,
- Integration with the company planning system,
- Dashboards and statistics for project managers,
- Human Ressource system for availabilities,
- We plan to integrate an OpenObject Wiki for description of needs in the task,
- Getting Things Done module system for personal time organisation,
- Scrum methodology for IT companies, ...
We also improved the integration with sales order that can now: - triggers tasks automatically,
- invoice task based on sale order quantities or work on tasks,
- email to customer and request to project manager,
- planify the dates and responsibles on the task.
