[edit] The User Interface
This section describes the basic elements of OpenERP's client side interface.
If you wish to try out the client without installing the server, don't hesitate to connect our demonstration server ( [[1]] ).
1) Connecting to the server :
To connect to the server, press Ctrl-o and enter the login information.
Upon connection, the client will display an interface containing only those modules which the user has permission to use.
2) Main Window :
You should now see a window similar to this :
Depending on your language orientation, the elements in the window will be displayed left to right, or reversed (example : hebrew). The rest of the manual will assume a left to right oriented language.
This display is the starting point for any operation you wish to perform.
3) Main menu :
The first tab which is displayed is the menu. On the right side, a hierarchic menu gives you access to all the operations and orders which you are authorized to use. A single click on an element selects the resource. Double-click performs the action associated with it, which will usually result in opening a new tab containing either a form or a list view of items.
The options are presented in a form of a tree. Any option with a mark on the left of it's icon (either a triangle, or a square with a + sign) denotes a containing option. Clicking on the mark will either display or hide it's contained options.
4) Shortcuts :
On the left is the shortcut list, which can help you access selected operations quicker. To add a shortcut, select the menu option you wish to add and click on the "+" button in the shortcut menu.
