[edit] Traceability

Traceability includes functionalities available all along the material or product logistics workflow. Open ERP allows tracking of batches and serial number of products.

It is possible to allocate tracking references to products or product batches at any step of the process: When a product is received from the supplier, when the product is taken out of the shelf from a set of products (for instance from the same box), when the production is finished or when the product is shipped.

For instance, a set of products is stored in the warehouse in the same lot (box) and this lot has a tracking number because it results from the same batch production. The example here will be a batch of 8 Main Boards, already stored in the warehouse. It can be looked for through the search engine, in Operations / Stock / All lots line.

The screen showing the lot details is the following:

In order to take one Main Board out of the box, the lot has to be split with the action button (gear icon) and the "Assign tracking/serial number" option. The tracking number of the batch can be kept and the serial number is added to the Main Board. The quantity to split is one because, only one Main Board can have this serial number.

The individual product can be checked by looking at it in the Operations / Stock / All lots line form.
