[edit] Stock - Tree of locations

Module: Stock
Menu: Stock / Lots and Location Trees

The structure of the location tree gives a good view of what has been sent to the customers, received from the suppliers, what is in inventory by location, ...

Management of the locations is double-entry, and holds information about stocks, suppliers, and customers.

[edit] Explanation

You have an outline of the batch situation on each location;

  • Input : batches received but not yet placed in stocks.
  • Output : batches ready to be delivered.
  • Company: all batches delivered (Input), to be delivered (Output) and to be stored (Stock).

Batches management is double-entry. The batches are generated at the time of purchase order. Orders are delivered in "Input" and then it can be placed in "Stock". Delivery requests are set in "Output". Deliveries are made from "Output" to customers when picked up by transport companies or mail services.

The usual theoretical process of a batch could be as follows:

In reality, batches may have to go through transformations, internal moves, inventory numbering...

This presentation allows a deeper analysis of the process and of time schedule for storage. For example, you can make a stock valuation (or a study of the deadlines) in the "Suppliers" location. This enables to check the goods that have been received from the supplier but sent to the customer yet. Moreover, you can follow up the time spent between receiving goods from the supplier and delivering them to the customer.

You can create several Customers and Suppliers locations, so as to make detailed reports. Preferences are set in the "Partner" data.
